Understanding Media Library

Media Library provides a complete overview of all media uploaded within a portal. Users can view, access, manage, sort, and filter media from a centralized location. This facilitates content accessibility, collaboration between users, and displays the latest media for organizational activities.

NOTE: Only media the user has been granted access to is displayed in Media Library. Media access is configured in the Access tab of media settings. See Understanding Media Settings.

Access Media Library​

Select the search icon from the portal homepage to open the Media Library.

Features​

Centralized Access​

All accessible media is displayed in Media Library, allowing centralized management and searching of content uploaded by different users.

Categories​

Categories and subcategories organize media content based on purpose and relevance. Categories appear in the left navigation panel for filtering. See Managing Categories in VIDIZMO.

Filters​

Filter content by media attributes defined during upload:

  • Format - Media type (Video, Audio, Document, Image, Collection, Playlist, SCORM, Live)
  • Author - Content creator
  • Tags - Associated keywords
  • Custom Attributes - User-defined metadata fields

Tags​

Tags are keywords that describe and highlight content for optimized search. Tags can be predefined by administrators or added during publishing. See How to Configure and Use Enterprise Tags.

View Modes​

Media Library supports two display modes:

  • Thumbnail View - Grid display showing posting date and view count
  • List View - Detailed display showing author name, posting date, tags, description, and view count

Sort Options​

Sort media by:

  • Most Recent - By creation or update date
  • Relevance - By search ranking
  • Title - Alphabetically by title
  • Longest - By duration (longest first)
  • Most Viewed - By total view count
  • Total Likes - By like count
  • Popularity - By engagement metrics

Overflow Menu​

The overflow menu (⋮) on each media item provides quick actions:

  • Settings - Open media settings
  • Add to Favorites - Mark as favorite
  • Share - Share media with users or externally
  • Clip - Create clips from video
  • Add to Playlist - Add to existing or new playlist
  • Add to Collection - Add to existing or new collection
  • Download - Download media file
  • Copy Link - Copy shareable URL

Available actions depend on portal configuration and user permissions.

Video Progress Tracking​

Users can track viewing progress directly in Media Library:

  • Progress percentage displayed on media thumbnails
  • Resume playback from last watched position
  • Identify completed vs. partially watched videos

Share on Social Media​

Media Library pages can be shared on social media platforms to reach audiences outside the portal (when enabled).

Media Library vs My Library​

Media Library:

  • All portal media accessible to the user
  • Public and shared content
  • Portal-wide view

My Library:

  • Personal content only
  • Favorites, playlists, collections
  • User-specific view
